1972 Chateau Latour Pauillac, Bordeaux, France WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 13.0% Price at time of purchase: $0.00 (Library wine) Type: Cabernet / Bordeaux Principal varietal(s): Bordeaux blend Flabbergastingly good wine from an appallingly bad vintage, and 35 years old to boot! Good ruby color with some slight lightening at the edges. Relatively fresh berry fruit flavors complement a cedary/resinous base. Quite aromatic and pleasant, though straight-ahead and a bit overly-soft. This must have been by far the best 1972 Bordeaux produced. It was tasted with some sensational 1982's, and was not disgraced in any way. - HK&GK 2008-01-05 [Back] |
