2006 Ledson Winery and Vineyards Cepage Sonoma County, California WB Rating: 86 Alcohol by volume: 14.2% Price at time of purchase: $70.00 (Winery) Type: Cabernet / Bordeaux Principal varietal(s): Bordeaux blend In the interest of full disclosure, I have a built-in bias against Ledson, which has a gigantic, out-of-place, super-commercial castle in the middle of otherwise mostly bucolic Sonoma Valley. I have found its wines to be fairly generic and insanely overpriced in general. This wine, which probably retailed in the $70 region, is balanced and flavorful but lacks the intensity and complexity and overall flavor interest that should be found in this price range. I believe it's mostly Cabernet though its soft cherry and plum notes reminded me more of Merlot. Drinking fine at age 11, it would be a good, straight-ahead every-day wine at 1/4 or so of the asking price. (Price estimated.) - HK 2017-05-19 [Back] |
