| 2012 Martinelli Zinfandel Lolita Ranch Russian River, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 88 Alcohol by volume: 15.9% Price at time of purchase: $52.00 (from winery) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): Medium to light ruby in color - this is obviously not a Dry Creek Zin! Some Pinot Noir characteristics in the aromas - crushed dark cherry and black raspberry - but not in the liqueur-like mouth feel that adds the punch of kirsch to the berry flavors. Nice touches of vanilla and spice, but also some unwieldy heat from the alcohol. An interesting Russian River Zin, but not quite in my comfort zone.
