This wine was a real find. I think I've had some other wines from Montes Alpha in the past that were not particularly good, but this one really hit the spot. Black purple color, with the complex aromas and tough-guy texture of a good young French Chateauneuf, but with even more density of fruit. Rich blackberry and dark currant flavors with attractive floral and licorice notes. Has not yet smoothed out the tough edges, but there is so much fruit and the wine is so nicely balanced and structured that it is still a pleasure to drink right now. - HK 2006-07-28
