1982 Chateau Montrose St. Estephe, Bordeaux, France WB Rating: 92 Alcohol by volume: 12.0% Price at time of purchase: $0.00 (Library wine) Type: Cabernet / Bordeaux Principal varietal(s): Bordeaux blend Tasting of 1/3/2010 ... Suffered slightly (in HK's opinion - not GK's) against a terrific 1982 Leoville Las Cases, but still a sensational Bordeaux. Softer and jammier than in the 2008 tasting, with super-ripe strawberry notes added onto the spicy cassis, plum, and tobacco undercarriage. Lots of cedar in this latest tasting, not quite as youthful and structured this time around. Rating: 92. Tasting of 1/5/2008 ... Our favorite among a recent tasting of 1982 Bordeaux. Very aromatic, forward, assertive nose of smoky, minty cassis and super-ripe fruit along with a boatload of spiciness. Fresh and delicious in the mouth, showing dark currants and plums with a hint of prunes. Memorable wine. Rating: 93. - HK, GK 2010-01-03 [Back] |
