2009 Chateau La Fleur Morange "Mathilde" Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux, France WB Rating: 89 Alcohol by volume: 13.0% Price at time of purchase: $18.00 (Premier Cru) Type: Cabernet / Bordeaux Principal varietal(s): Merlot Really impressive 100% Merlot cuvee from a small vineyard in the eastern part of Saint-Emilion. Still youthful and tannic, but full of flavor and life and a nice sense of purity and style. Spicy plum and cassis liqueur aromas and flavors, admirably focused and long despite its youthful tautness. It would be hard to find many sub-$20 Merlot's in the world that are this good. It's only going to get better as it softens. - HK 2014-02-04 [Back] |
