When first opened, the 2002 Windsor Gardens Pinot Noir showed a touch of woodiness along with complex notes of raspberry, sweet herbs, and rose blossoms. Over the next half hour or so, the woodiness dissipated and the wine seemed to gain weight and focus in the glass, with darker fruits emerging. Seemed to have a more acidic feel in the mouth than previous vintages - but the acid helped give the wine grip. We've unfortunately drunk through our earlier vintages of the Windsor Gardens Pinot Noir, but the 2002 is a worthy successor. [Cost estimated.] - WB team 2006-03-11
