2003 Old World Winery Pinot Noir Windsor Gardens Vineyard Russian River, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 90 Alcohol by volume: 14.3% Price at time of purchase: $25.00 (from winery) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir Unlike any of the other young Windsor Gardens Pinot Noirs we've tasted - it's more masculine and structured - this one is probably the most impressive in its infancy. Like the Laughlin, what struck us was the classiness of the weight and balance of the wine. Less floral by far at this stage than other vintages, a bit higer in acid feel than the Laughlin, but chewy, structured, and with excellent depth. Spicy cherry, dark tomato, and plum flavors, still somewhat tight, but with all the components there for positive development. Could end up being the best Windsor Gardens of them all. - WB Team 2007-01-13 [Back] |
