2004 Old World Winery Two Rock Red Wine, Bei Du Rocchi Ranch Sonoma Coast, California WB Rating: 90 Alcohol by volume: 15.1% Price at time of purchase: $27.00 (from winery) Type: Rhone-style Red Principal varietal(s): Red blend I'm not sure what grapes are in this wine, but it struck me as similar to the super-rich Shiraz-Cab blends from Australia. Deep purple in color, the wine displays huge structure, a boatload of tannin, and extremely rich, chewy texture. The fruit is bright and forward, yet there is a lot of complexity in its flavors of raspberries, black currants, smoke, charcoal, and sweet herbs. This wine will be a fascinating one to follow over the next few years. - HK 2007-05-01 [Back] |
