2012 Pezzi King Zinfandel "Chris Taylor" Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 92 Alcohol by volume: 15.6% Price at time of purchase: $75.00 (from winery) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): Zinfandel This wine was won by good friends in a raffle, and they were kind enough to share. Extremely rare special bottling, extremely expensive (if it's even available), but also extremely good. Cascades of ripe, succulent Zinfandel fruit, beautifully textured and long in the mouth. Not top-heavy despite its intensity and alcohol level - in fact quite elegant and sleek in feel. Wonderful level of dark berry fruit, just the right touch of oak, nothing out of harmony here, completely refreshing and interesting on the palate. A giant step up from your every day straight-ahead Zin. One of the best I've had from anybody recently. [Price estimated.] - HK 2014-12-22 [Back] |
