2014 Pezzi King Zinfandel Reserve Serracino Vineyard Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 91 Alcohol by volume: 15.4% Price at time of purchase: $34.00 (winery) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): Zinfandel Pezzi King does a beautiful job of turning grapes from 100-year-old Dry Creek vineyards into mouth-filling, hedonistic wines. The 2014 Serracino is, like most other old-vine Pezzi King Zins, almost port-like in feel. Super-rich dark berry and plum liqueur flavors and an amalgam of sweet spices assault the nose and palate. Mouth-coating texture and finish, but still remarkably balanced considering the intensity. You can certainly feel some heat from the alcohol, but the sheer richness of this wine overcomes it. - HK 2017-09-01 [Back] |
