2007 Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc/Viognier California WB Rating: 89 Alcohol by volume: 12.8% Price at time of purchase: $10.59 (Costco) Type: Loire-style white Principal varietal(s): 80% Chenin Blanc, 20% Viognier Very few U.S. wineries make Chenin Blanc, and I have great admiration for Pine Ridge's attention to this grape, which in the Loire Valley makes some of the world's best white wines. This blend of 80% Chenin Blanc and 20% Viognier is a serious wine with something of the feel of an off-dry Vouvray. Aromas of honey, spice, minerals, flowers, and ripe peachy fruit. Slightly sweet feel in the mouth, fresh and clean flavors and finish. Delicious as well as a tremendous buy. - HK 2008-10-22 [Back] |
