| 2004 Plungerhead Zinfandel Dry Creek Old Vine Dry Creek, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 88 Alcohol by volume: 14.5% Price at time of purchase: $7.99 (K&L) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): The clever label looks like an old Monty Python cartoon of a man with a toilet plunger on his head. And the bottle is sealed by a "Zork," apparently a cross between a zip-lock bag and a cork. But the wine is no laughing matter. This has easily taken over as the best sub-$10 Zin I've ever tasted. Big plummy aromas. Flavors of crushed plums, cherry liqueur, dried flowers. Round and chewy texture, though a bit sharp in the finish. Unbelievable bargain. Bottled by "The Other Guys," a division of Don Sebastiani & Sons. - HK 2007-04-13 [Back] |
