1995 Chateau Pontet-Canet Pauillac, Bordeaux, France WB Rating: 88 Alcohol by volume: 13.0% Price at time of purchase: $0.00 (Library wine) Type: Cabernet / Bordeaux Principal varietal(s): Cabernet blend Classic, penetrating Cassis and smoky cedar Bordeaux nose and flavors. Good ripeness and youthful virility are there, but in the end the '95 Pontet-Canet came across in this tasting as fairly straightforward, lacking the extra layers of spice and perfume that might take it into the "extraordinary" classification. I have several more bottles of this wine so I'll give it a few more chances over the 15 years. - HK 2005-09-15 [Back] |
