1988 Chateau Prieure-Lichine Margaux, Bordeaux, France WB Rating: 90 Alcohol by volume: 12.0% Price at time of purchase: $0.00 (Library Selection) Type: Cabernet / Bordeaux Principal varietal(s): Bordeaux blend We've tasted this wine several times over the past 10 years. Remarkably, the bottle sampled in October, 2011 was easily the best. Deep red-purple in color with only the slightest lightening at the edges and no amber color. Forward, classic, fruit-dominated, complex aromas hightlighted by dark currants and black cherries, charcoal, earth, and only a touch of aged cedar. Beautifully balanced and with an astonishing feeling of freshness and depth for a 23 year old Margaux that doesn't have a reputation for longevity. Many thanks to friend B. Perkins for sharing this great wine. - HK 2011-10-29 [Back] |
