1999 Quintessa Red Table Wine Rutherford, Napa Valley, California WB Rating: 90 Alcohol by volume: 14.1% Price at time of purchase: $110.00 (from winery) Type: Cabernet / Bordeaux Principal varietal(s): Bordeaux blend Not exactly a bargain at $110 (you can get it at K&L for $75), this is nonetheless an excellent, Bordeaux-like red whose rating may increase as the wine cracks open. Still youthful and somewhat unyielding, it has great promise. Top-flight nose of ripe currants, cedar, smoke, and attractive spiciness, satisfyingly rich in the mouth with excellent mid-range and long, roundly-tannic finish. As the wine develops complexity it should be outstanding. - HK 2003-11-12 [Back] |
