1992 Rafanelli Zinfandel Estate Dry Creek, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 86 Alcohol by volume: 13.0% Price at time of purchase: $ (Library wine) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): Zinfandel This wine has aged well, but struck us as clearly not as fresh and forward as a younger Rafanelli. Has the usual blackberry, briary Dry Creek feel to it, but in a more subdued style. It's a matter of personal taste where the "cutoff point" is for Zinfandels in terms when they start to lose their charm. To many of us that cutoff is about age 5 - 7, and that's consistent with our experience here. Nice cherry flavors and finish, just not as entrancing as Rafanelli's Zins can be when younger. - WB Team 2001-07-19 [Back] |
