What a track record this wine has - now approaching 50 years since the first version. Ridge Zins are rarely wines of the beefcake genre, but more Claret-like in their balance and harmony, and the 2013 is no exception. It is again a classically structured red loaded with flavor and class. The 2013 has delectable blackberry fruit along with boysenberry, dark currents, licorice, and an almost rhubarb-like crunchiness and freshness. Nuances of smoky oak. Some dry tannins remain, but this wine is still very youthful and lively. Delicious now but should be great for another 10 years. - HK 2018-01-07
