1987 Ridge Vineyards Zinfandel Geyserville Trentadue Alexander Valley, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 13.8% Price at time of purchase: $12.00 (Library wine) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): Zinfandel + Carignan Similar to the '86 Ridge Trentadue, but in our mind slightly the lesser wine. Another amazingly good, elegant old Zin with full and lively flavors, but tinged more towards black cherries, licorice, and cedar in its advanced age rather than plums or raspberries. Dark opaque purple, with a lot of sediment that required decanting. Another great Ridge Zin that has aged gracefully and well, but was probably stupendous in its youth. - HK 2000-11-28 [Back] |
