This wine was obtained in a benefit auction for the Children's Health Council in the early 90's, and has aged nicely, though it is probably at its peak right now. The first impression is like inserting a Cuban cigar into one nostril while walking into a freshly sanded cedar closet. A powerful, tasty, complex wine whose tobacco emphasis mellowed with breathing to include excellent dark current and berry flavors as well. 60% from the Monte Bello vineyard and 40% from Jimsomare vineyard, it was blended to provide "early" drinkability, but it probably provides a good insight into what each of these excellent vineyards had to offer in '89. - HK 2000-09-10
