Age was not a problem with this wine -- it had a healthy color and fresh feel to it. There were lots of interesting components in the nose and flavors, but most were not fruit -- the smoky/charcoal, wet forest, chocolate, and herbal/anise components tended to dominate the the tart cherry and plum fruit underneath. Claret-like feel (typical of Jimsomare) despite the high alcohol. Well-made wine, but not in my Zin comfort zone. - HK 2002-10-10
