1997 Ridge Vineyards Petite Sirah Dynamite Hill Vines, York Creek Vineyard Napa Valley, California WB Rating: 78 Alcohol by volume: 13.5% Price at time of purchase: $22.00 (Ridge ATP selection) Type: Petite Sirah Principal varietal(s): Petite Sirah Boy was this wine disappointing. We reviewed it a couple of years ago and gave it a score of 89, praising its rich, complex flavors and promising firm structure. This latest version was, therefore, probably a bad bottle, but we've got to call 'em as we see 'em. Despite its healthy deep purple color, this bottle was barely holding on to drinkability, with tired, leafy, cedar-infused flavors and not much spunk. A pity since Ridge Petite Sirah's usually age beautifully. - WB team 2004-08-11 [Back] |
