1997 Ridge Vineyards Geyserville Alexander Valley, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 90 Alcohol by volume: 14.9% Price at time of purchase: $27.50 (Sold out at the winery, but you might find it at less popular wine merchants) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): 15% Carignane, 10% Petite Sirah, 1% Mataro The Geyserville is consistently one of Ridge's best Zinfandels. The 1997 is no exception, with intense inky black cherry, peppery tones and a smooth glycerine-like body One of the longest, most intense finishes I can remember. Dubbed the "essence of life" by one WineBork. I just hope I can find some more. (MJA) - WB Team 2000-07-03 [Back] |
