Struck us as the most restrained of the '98 Ridge Zins at this point, not as forward or friendly as it will undoubtedly become in a year or two. Tasty if reticent flavors of strawberry jam, licorice, and dried herbs. Slightly higher acid feel than we're used to in this wine, actually somewhat Bordeaux-like in overall mouth impression.
