Buit it did seem a little off the usual Ridge Paso Robles calibration curve: a little harsh and out of sorts -- travel shock? -- even though there was the usual deep purple color and obvious density of fruit. It was better with airing, starting off a little pruny and over-ripe tasting, then softening into the more familiar spiced plums. One taster said it had a bit of "pre-pubescent astringency."
