2009 Rochioli Pinot Noir Little Hill Russian River, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 91 Alcohol by volume: 14.5% Price at time of purchase: $72.00 (from winery) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir I suspect I opened this excellent Pinot about a year or two before its peak. Fairly deep purple in color for a Pinot, not particularly tannic in the mouth at age 7, but has that feeling that not all its hidden components have fully expressed themselves yet. Still, mouth-filling flavors of raspberry, strawberry, and earthy forest notes along with dried flowers and sweet spice. The predictable Rochioli feel of balance and harmony in its structure, but at this point I'd definitely rank it behind the outstanding 2008 Little Hill. - HK 2016-04-06 [Back] |
