| 2015 Rochioli Chardonnay Rachaels Vineyard Russian River, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 89 Alcohol by volume: 14.5% Price at time of purchase: $74.00 (from winery) Type: Chardonnay Principal varietal(s): Chardonnay Crazy to say for a wine I'm ranking 89, but it struck me that this bottle was possibly showing some premature age, in that it lacked the ethereal weightlessness and grace of the few other Rachael's I've tried in the past. In any case, this is a solid Chardonnay displaying a complex mix of flavors - roasted nuts, butter, yeast, nutmeg, buttered pears, and a coconut/pineapple tropical note. Touch of mineral kick in the finish. Just didn't quite have that seamless feel I've always found in the best Rochioli Chardonnays. - HK 2020-05-14 [Back] |
