This ancient L'Ermitage was predictably yeasty with nice toast and citrus flavors. But it also struck me as being a bit past its prime -- a bit more acidic and less creamy, a bit less fruity, a bit less balanced in its attack. This is a good wine that I'd happily drink every day (though not at $35/bottle), but would have enjoyed it a lot more when it was a few years younger. - HK 2000-03-23
