| 2001 Rosenblum Syrah Hillside Vineyard Sonoma County, California WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 15.3% Price at time of purchase: $26.00 (from winery) Type: Syrah Principal varietal(s): Syrah This wine uses a blend of grapes from the Rockpile Road (85%) and Rhodes (15%) vineyards. An excellent, rich wine, but to us not as compelling as some of the other Rosenblum Syrahs -- including the Abba Vineyard Syrah that's about half the price. The Hillside Syrah displays the usual (and remarkable) Rosenblum Syrah opacity, along with blackberry, kirsch, and black pepper aromas and flavors.
