1999 Rosenblum Zinfandel Eagle Point Vineyard Mendocino, California WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 14.3% Price at time of purchase: $19.00 (from winery) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): Zinfandel We're used to silky textures and bright cherry fruit in our Mendocino Zins. This wine does not have the usual profile and was somewhat controversial in our tasting. It shows a briary but somewhat floral nose, and in the mouth the dominant impression is roasted meat with earthy, minty, dark berry and currant fruit.. Still has some tannin to burn. This wine is slow on the attack but perseveres to a long finish. It would be interesting to taste it in another year or so. - WB Team 2002-02-15 [Back] |
