2006 Rutherford Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley, California WB Rating: 88 Alcohol by volume: 13.5% Price at time of purchase: $10.99 (K&L) Type: Cabernet / Bordeaux Principal varietal(s): Chardonnay Like the recently tasted '07 Napa Chardonnay from Rutherford Ranch, the '06 Rutherford Ranch Cabernet is astonishingly good for its price point. It's not particularly complex, but it possesses wonderfully ripe, chewy, classic Napa Cabernet fruit in an impeccably balanced package. It's the kind of wine that makes you smile when you drink it, first because it is so pleasant to drink, and second because it's such a nice expression of its varietal. It would be an ultimate restaurant wine, not to mention house red - affordable, delicious, true to its variety, excellent with food. - HK 2009-03-18 [Back] |
