Like the 2005 Seghesio Petite Sirah, I thought this Cab would never be drinkable. Extremely tannic, astringent, and charmless in its first years after release, it has become, at age 11, a most pleasant, balanced, and flavorful wine. Deep dark healthy purple color with no sign of amber, fresh, youthful, forward nose of dark berries, black currants, BBQ smoke, and violet-like floral nuances. May lack a layer or two of flavor and complexity compared to some $100 Cabs, but this is a winner. I'm really glad I held this bottle back, and it convinces me (not the first time) that I have some limitations in my ability to gauge how an extremely tannic young wine will turn out. Note: I also like the throw-back label to Seghesio's early days. - HK 2016-02-16
