2006 Seghesio Aglianico Alexander Valley, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 88 Alcohol by volume: 15.0% Price at time of purchase: $40.00 (winery) Type: Italian-style Red Principal varietal(s): Aglianico Seghesio has a terrific touch with old-vine Italian varietals. This Aglianico is just starting to open up at age 6, though it's still tannic and somewhat rustic. Deep, dark purple color. Mouth-coating smokey blackberry fruit on top of a large-scale structure. With air, it opens up nicely and some floral and spicy notes appear. An excellent and interesting wine to drink with big, robust meals. It's unfortunately priced a little higher than the Seghesio Zins, though. - HK 2012-11-10 [Back] |
