A pricey super-Tuscan style wine that, even at age 6, is still a tad unruly, like a really young Bordeaux from an austere vintage. Nice nose, flavors of black raspberry, dark currants, oaky vanilla notes. Some obvious richness and ripeness in the mouth, but it's still closed and comes across as very tannic, with a dry and somewhat bitter finish. Clearly a well made wine, and one I really wanted to love. But perhaps it needs another 4 or 5 years to really soften and open up. For now there's not a lot of charm in this wine. - HK 2013-11-10
