| 2008 Siduri Wines Pinot Noir Sonatera Vineyard Sonoma Coast, California WB Rating: 88 Alcohol by volume: 13.1% Price at time of purchase: $21.25 (from winery) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir This is another delicious Siduri Pinot Noir, displaying flavors of dark cherry, plum, raspberry, and dried flowers over a dense charcoal-like core with distinct notes of root beer. While excellent, it doesn't have nearly the flavor density and sheer delight factor of the super 2007, and also shows a higher acid feel in the mouth and somewhat less length. (Also, 1% less alcohol.) But these are quibbles for an excellent Pinot that was wonderfully priced at the winery during a recent tasting event there. - HK 2011-03-11 [Back] |
