1989 Chateau Sociando Mallet Haut Medoc, Bordeaux, France WB Rating: 84 Alcohol by volume: 12.5% Price at time of purchase: $0.00 (Library wine) Type: Cabernet / Bordeaux Principal varietal(s): Cabernet blend The 1989 Sociando Mallet came across as drying out slightly in this tasting, though clearly showing enough classic Bordeaux dark currant and cedar notes to be a pleasure to drink. The nose still had a nice perfume of cassis, berries, and smoke, but in the mouth the flavors came across as a bit clipped. Tannins in the finish were slightly dusty and bitter and beginning to win the battle over the fruit. - HK 2005-07-29 [Back] |
