I'm not usually a Sangiovese fan, but this wine was a stunner. Picked up, to be honest, just because it was on sale ("elsewhere: $19.99!"), but it turned out to be absolutely excellent. Opaque purple color, rich and complex nose displaying earthy plum fruit surrounded by cedar, dark licorice, new leather, coffee. Ripe and satisfying in the mouth, some balancing tannin to support the richness. None of the sinewy toughness I find in so many Sangioveses. - HK 2006-12-10
