2008 Saint Clair Family Estate Pinot Noir "Vicar's Choice" Marlborough region, New Zealand WB Rating: 89 Alcohol by volume: 13.0% Price at time of purchase: $11.49 (Costco) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir Classy and astonishingly well-priced Pinot Noir from New Zealand, this has instantly become one of my favorite 2 or 3 inexpensive wines. Light ruby in color, but chock full of flavorful Burgundian fruits - bing cherry, red raspberry, red currants. Subtle touches of white flowers and sweet herbs add complexity. Excellent purity. Extremely balanced, silky, and round in the mouth and lingering finish, with medium weight and rational alcohol level making it a good food wine. - HK 2010-04-24 [Back] |
