Excellent, full-bodied, oaky Merlot. Seems to be handling the oak level better than their Zin, which can be wonderful when young but with age sometimes becomes overpowered by the oak. Forward, fruity nose with sweet oak edge. Nice, plump, mouth-coating flavors of chocolate, coffee, and dark cherry. Drunk with barbecued pork ribs, and held its own nicely, but had some extra layers of interest that a lot of powerful wines don't have. Good wine, fairly priced. - WB Team 2000-08-19
