2012 Stonestreet Cabernet Sauvignon Bear Point Vineyard Alexander Valley, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 92 Alcohol by volume: 14.5% Price at time of purchase: $60.00 (Winery) Type: Cabernet / Bordeaux Principal varietal(s): Cabernet This is a admirably rich and fruit-filled Cabernet that is already extremely drinkable. Tasted at the winery next to the more massive, but less evolved Rockfall Cabernet, the Bear Point was almost Zin-like, with plums and deep berry fruit at the forefront. But later, by itself, and after airing for an hour or so, it reminded me of a top-notch Napa Cab with seamless, mouth-coating flavors of Cassis and smoke more up-front than the plum and berry components. In any case, this is an hedonistic and outstanding Cabernet that, in today's Cabernet universe, is fairly priced. - HK 2016-09-22 [Back] |
