1992 Topolos Alicante Bouschet Russian River, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 85 Alcohol by volume: 12.2% Price at time of purchase: $10.00 (Library wine) Type: Alicante Bouschet Principal varietal(s): 100% Alicante? Lighter colored than the opaque black-purple it was when young -- now an attractive deep red. Nicely perfumed dark cherry/currant nose, but like most "stand-alone" Alicantes a bit too clumsy to support a high pleasure level over an entire bottle. Got a little wearing at the end. But with the right kind of nuclear-density food, not bad at all. Topolos has a special focus on Alicantes, and this struck us as one of their better ones. - WB Team 2000-07-03 [Back] |
