Utterly opaque purple color. Muscular, structured wine still displaying a lot of tough tannins underneath the blackberry, brandied cherry, bitter chocolate aromas and flavors. A bit rustic, and it's never going to be a smoothie. But with the proper big foods, this is a satisfying beefcake of a wine. - HK 2013-04-28
