| 2013 Valdez Family Winery Zinfandel St. Peter's Church Vineyard Alexander Valley, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 91 Alcohol by volume: 14.8% Price at time of purchase: $41.00 (from winery) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): Zinfandel From a tiny vineyard in the backyard of a church in the middle of residential Cloverdale that produces wonderful fruit - e.g. some Rosenbaum St. Peter's Church Zins of the distant past. This Zin is beautifully balanced, richer and more interesting than the other 2013 Valdez Zin I've tried (from the Botticelli Vineyard in Rockpile). Silky smooth, liqueur-like feel despite its "low" alcohol. Displays super-ripe cherry, kirsch, and blackberry flavors on top of a pleasant dose of spice. No hard edges here.
