2000 Verget Chablis Chablis, Burgundy, France WB Rating: 85 Alcohol by volume: 13.0% Price at time of purchase: $12.00 (Premier Cru) Type: Chardonnay Principal varietal(s): Chardonnay A most enjoyable wine, and the price is remarkably low for even a generic Chablis such as this, but in my mind this wine is not nearly as interesting or flavorful as a number of superb Macon's produced by Verget. This wine has more color than most generic Chablis, and has a pleasant nose and good flavors -- lime, butter, flint -- just not enough intensity to be rated higher. As with all Verget whites, a good food wine because of its refreshing acidity and clean flavor delineation. - HK 2002-04-17 [Back] |
