2004 Water Wheel Vineyards Memsie Shiraz-Cabernet-Malbec South Australia WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 14.8% Price at time of purchase: $9.99 (K&L) Type: Shiraz Principal varietal(s): 71% Shiraz, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Malbec A tremendous buy from the Bendigo area of southeastern Australia. Opaque purple in color, this is a big, alcoholic powerhouse of a wine. Chewy herb-tinged dark berry fruit with a mocha-like component, mouthcoating texture, pure finish with significant but round tannins. This is a brawny, uncomplicated wine that's hard to beat for the price. To be served with slabs of beef around the fire, not veal by candlelight. - HK 2007-04-12 [Back] |
