1999 Domaine Zind Humbrecht Pinot d'Alsace Alsace, France WB Rating: 89 Alcohol by volume: 13.5% Price at time of purchase: $10.00 (Premier Cru) Type: Pinot Blanc Principal varietal(s): Pinot Blanc OK, this is the second-best $10 white on earth, since the '98 Zind-Humbrecht Pinot d'Alsace barely edges it out. Bless Premier Cru for putting a wine of this quality at a price point like this! Very similar to the '98, this one has slightly higher acid, and it's a matter of personal preference at that point as to which vintage one prefers. This pure, beautifully delineated wine has lots of citrus honey and spiced buttered peaches, a delightful acid/fruit balance, and oodles of fruit in the mouth. Great stuff, preposterously good for the price. - HK 2002-12-10 [Back] |

[chorne 2003-01-01] If you can find this wine for $10, buy a LOT of it. It\'s around $24 everywhere I can get it. User Rating: 92. |
